I am very excited to begin the 2012 year with new changes to my current product line of custom aisle runners.

I am constantly looking for new goods that offer the highest quality to my customers. I had been happy with the quality fabric I offered before, but I continually look for EVEN BETTER AND AFFORDABLE materials to provide, and now I have it!
The new aisle runner fabric is more of a heavy canvas feel, and when it is manufactured it is put thru a single pass of foam backing, making it feel like suede on the back . The fabric is wider than what I previously offered. My previous fabric was 45 inches wide, and the new one will be 54" wide.

I will offer custom runners with and without a satin ribbon border on the edges of the runner. Of course adding the ribbon would be extra.

I am thrilled I can offer my brides the same quality in hand painting with an even better fabric to paint it on.

Looking for a truly one of a kind custom wedding card holder. You have to see this one! I had it custom made in New York for my own son and daughter in law's wedding last July 30th. It was used it once at their reception. It is pristine, not a flaw on it, and has been wrapped in plastic ever since.

She stands approximately 3 feet tall and is approximately 28 inches wide. The wedding cards slip in the side of her dress, and are secured in a wire cage underneath. What Brides Need To Know Before Ordering A Custom Wedding Aisle Runner

My company Chic Unique Inc. has created hand painted personalized aisle runners for countless weddings.

I have a few considerations engaged couples need to know before ordering:

First, does your church or venue allow aisle runners?

Allow enough time for the runner to be completed (allow 12 weeks before wedding date).

Decide on a monogram, quote, poem, or designs a that reflects the couple, fits their theme, or introduces their new monogram to their wedding guests.

Provide swatches to help better match paint and the ribbon for the runner’s edges .

I make every attempt to match colors as closely as possible to the colors you are currently using for your wedding. If an exact match is a concern, perhaps choosing neutral colors such as black, silver, gold, or brown would be a better option. Keep in mind, darker colors show up best for photography.

Measure the aisle yourself! Don’t rely on the venue to tell you the length. There have been occasions that the bride/groom/planner didn’t measure the space themselves, relied on the venue to tell them the length, and later found out the measurement was wrong, after the runner was rolled out for the ceremony. Wrong measurements can incur more expense for the wedding couple if they order runners longer than they need, or end up disappointed because they are too short.

I base your order on what you tell me, and if the measurement is wrong, the design may not lay where you want it to, (example the center design won’t end up in the center).

Next, picture and decide where the design would look best: entrance, center, or altar area. You are really the best judge of this because you are looking at the ceremony space.

One suggestion I have if you are considering having the design painted at the entrance area, is to have the design painted up at least 3 feet. It looks better than having it right close to the edge.

Finally, think about how you want to display your runner at the ceremony.

Will you roll it out ahead of time, rope off the aisle, and have your guests enter and exit from side aisles?

Do you want to have an usher roll out the runner, and have your bridal party walk down it ahead of you?

Or, do you want an usher to roll out the runner after your bridal party has walked down the aisle and just before it is time for the you/the bride to make your entrance?

I saw this article posted on Celia Milton's blog. She is a New Jersey officiant, and I wanted to share it with you. I wish I would have seen the rainwater idea for my son and daughter in law's wedding, that took place last July. They had an outdoor ceremony, and most of our beautiful outdoor photos had to be done inside because of the rain. Luckily, it stopped raining for the ceremony, but the liquid memory we had all day would have been a nice momento to remind us a beautiful day in spite of the rain!

One of my aisle runners was featured on My Fair Wedding tv show featured on the WE Channel. I'm sooo happy how it all looked. It was an outdoor wedding. They wanted simplicity. I painted a simple design for them with a black satin ribbon added to the edges. It looked elegant in their outddor setting. Of course David Tutera did another amazing job planning a fabulous wedding in a very small time frame. You are truly an artist David!

This is BY FAR, is my most requested piece of both weddings and elopements! But what exactly is it?   Ever wonder where we got the expression "Tie the Knot," when referring to a wedding?

   Most Ancient cultures, had some sort of "binding" ceremony for weddings. The ceremony (before weddings were mandated to be held in churches, and recorded with the government) "Bound" the two people, and the families together.

     The Old Norse called it a hand-festa, meaning "to strike a bargain by joining hands". This is also where we gained the custom of shaking hands.

     But the one that survived the longest came to us from Scotland. The Council of Trent changed Roman Catholic marriage laws to require the presence of a priest. This change did not extend to the regions affected by the Protestant Reformation, and in Scotland, marriage by consent remained in effect. By the 18th century, the Kirk of Scotland no longer recognized

marriages formed by mutual consent and subsequent sexual intercourse, even though the Scottish civil authorities did. This situation persisted until 1940, when Scottish marriage laws were reformed.

     During the ceremony knots were tied over and around the hands of the couple, thus ensuring them health, happiness and fertility. And so, we acquire the expression "Tie the Knot."

   Today, I offer couples a memorable way to add this ancient Handfasting custom to any wedding ceremony, giving them a truly unique memory on their wedding day.   Including a Handfasting in your wedding truly offers couples something different, which will have guests talking for a long time.

     I recently performed a Handfasting at a wedding, for one couple whose friend had just returned from his military service in the Middle East. He told me afterward that the ceremony was "the most moving thing he had ever seen in his life, including his time in Iraq."

     Many couples believe it is bad luck to "untie"
the cords, and so they choose to purchase the cords in order to keep them tied. When you do, you receive your cords, with hand-whipped ends to prevent fraying, presented to you in a beautiful keepsake box along with a certificate (suitable for framing) which you will sign during the ceremony.

    We did it!

Wedding Aisle Runner Trends for 2011

Gone are the days when our streets were made of dirt, and aisle runners were used to protect the bride’s path down the aisle from the dirt and mud her guests would track down the aisle before she arrived. The use of a white aisle runner was symbolic to walking on holy ground.

Today, brides and grooms want the accents of their wedding to stand out and be as unique as they are. Elegance and style are of utmost importance. Today’s trends are to embellish on “the symbolic and the traditional”.

The first time a groom sees his bride in her beautiful dress and veil walking down the aisle, is still considered one of the most important moments of the wedding day. So, now brides choose runners that suit this momentous occasion!! Modern weddings are using hand-painted runners that can set the mood and create a look of complete elegance. They complete a theme, by having hand painted designs of monograms, quotes poems, or target a common interest they may both have. It creates quite a photo opportunity as well.

Runners now have crystal embellishments and glitter added to them to add glitz and silk flowers that give a 3D effect. The possibilities are endless. This is a HUGE trend that employs this dramatic visual as a reminder of the important union taking place.

As in days gone by, to protect the runner from your guests walking on the runner before you do, there are two options you can choose.

· If you want to have your runner already rolled out when your guests arrive, but don’t want anyone to walk on it, place a ribbon across the aisle and allow your guests use the outer aisles to gain access to their seats.

· You can wait till your guests are seated and attendants have already gone down the aisle and roll the runner out immediately before you-the bride are ready to walk down the aisle. This later method can add even more drama to your arrival!

Just thought I would share a few pictures from my son and daughter in law's wedding day. It was July 30th, 2010. What a special day it was. Weather started to rain a little that day, but cleared in time for the outdoor ceremony they had planned. It was held at a state park in Illinois called Starved Rock. The setting could not have been more lovely and the couple couldn't have been happier. The last picture is of my son and daughter Mandy. I'm so proud of all of them. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Take a look at some of the pics!

I received this picture recently from one of my brides. Her wedding was in 2009. was having trouble sending me the pictures via email because they weren't in the correct format.
